Amie Street has made a name for itself as a DRM-free music store for independent labels, and its popularity-based pricing structure and other social features continue to attract major indie artists to the scene. Amazon, in the meantime, may still be interested in incorporating those features into its own store.

Late Late Nite FDL: Poor Oscar

Posted: 26 Feb 2008 12:06 AM CST

Adam Green- Morning After Midnight. I don't know what happened with Oscar's team last night. In spite of some great films worth honoring, the whole evening seemed to have a matte finish from the get go and the music routines all fell flat. How John Stewart maintained his cheery disposition under such languid conditions is beyond me.

Black Crowes Call Maxim Magazine Critic's Bluff

Posted: 25 Feb 2008 10:11 PM CST

I'm personally offended by this story. As someone who's just wrapping up college and looking to enter the entertainment journalism industry, it grinds my gears to read a story about a music critic reviewing an album he's never heard.

The Ice Man Cometh…The music distribution model is dead.

Posted: 25 Feb 2008 09:47 PM CST

Apparently 100 years ago there was a booming ice industry. Many people became millionaires by exporting ice to places that are warm. We don't talk about the ice industry anymore. The record industry is in big trouble. I have a feeling that artists of the future will make money on performances again instead of record sales.
